The science behind every capsule

We only make health claims that are authorised on the EU Register of Nutrition and Health Claims, and we check our advice against NHS.uk. Here’s what the evidence actually says about the nutrients in our Omega 3, Vitamin D3 and Multivitamin Plus Iron — including where the NHS urges a bit of caution.

Wellness Wealth Omega 3 Fish Oil
Omega 3 Fish Oil, 1000mg

Heart, brain and eyes — the case for EPA & DHA

The NHS recommends at least one portion of oily fish a week as part of a healthy, balanced diet, noting that oily fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines are rich in long-chain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA). Our capsules are formulated to help you reach a meaningful daily intake if fish isn’t always on the menu.

Normal heart function

EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, at an intake of 250mg combined EPA and DHA per day — an EFSA-authorised claim.

Normal brain function

DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function throughout adult life — one of the most well-established omega-3 claims on the EU Register.

Normal vision

DHA also contributes to the maintenance of normal vision, supporting the structure of the retina as part of a balanced diet.

NHS guidance: aim for at least two portions of fish a week, one of which should be oily; oily fish shouldn’t be eaten more than four times a week if you’re pregnant, due to trace pollutant levels — a supplement can be a convenient, consistent way to help reach your intake either way. Wellness Wealth Vitamin D3 4000iu
Vitamin D3, 4000iu (100µg)

Bones, muscles and immunity, especially in a low-sunlight climate

The NHS advises that everyone in the UK should consider a daily 10 microgram (400iu) vitamin D supplement during autumn and winter, since the sun isn’t strong enough for our skin to make vitamin D between October and early March. People who get little or no sun exposure are advised to take a supplement all year round.

Normal bones & muscle function

Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal muscle function, alongside normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus.

Normal immune function

Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system, particularly relevant during the autumn and winter months the NHS highlights.

Normal teeth

Vitamin D also contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth, and has a role in the process of cell division.

NHS caution: don’t take more than 100 micrograms (4,000iu) of vitamin D a day — that’s the maximum considered safe for most adults, and it is exactly the strength of this product, so please don’t combine it with other vitamin D supplements. Speak to a GP or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medication. See the NHS vitamin D page for full guidance.

Wellness Wealth Multivitamin Plus Iron
Multivitamin Plus Iron

Filling the everyday gaps — iron, vitamin C, B vitamins & vitamin A

Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutrient shortfalls in the UK, and the NHS notes that women with heavy periods, pregnant women and vegetarians/vegans are at greater risk of not getting enough. This formula combines iron with vitamin C, which the EU register confirms increases iron absorption, plus key B vitamins and vitamin A.

Iron & red blood cells

Iron contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin, normal oxygen transport in the body, and normal cognitive function.

Reducing tiredness & fatigue

Iron, vitamin C, and vitamins B2, B6, B9 (folate) and B12 all contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue — a common thread across this formula.

Blood formation & immunity

Folate and vitamin B12 contribute to normal red blood cell formation and normal function of the immune system, alongside vitamin C’s role in immune support.

Normal vision

Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision and the normal function of the immune system, plus normal iron metabolism.

Skin & collagen

Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, as well as normal energy-yielding metabolism.

Normal cognitive function

Iron contributes to normal cognitive function, and B12 & folate support the normal function of the nervous system.

NHS guidance: pregnant women are advised not to take supplements containing vitamin A (retinol) and to avoid liver and liver products, as too much vitamin A can harm an unborn baby; the NHS separately recommends women trying to conceive or in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy take a 400 microgram folic acid supplement daily. Always check the label and speak to a GP or midwife if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. See the NHS vitamins & minerals hub for guidance on every nutrient in this formula.
